Meet Dina Ahava

Dina Ahava Abramowitz is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. After working as a therapist and the Managing Director of a group practice for 4 years, Dina opened Ahava Mental Health Counseling. She specializes in religious conflict, relationship challenges, gender and sexuality, and the intersection between these areas which often leads to significant distress including anxiety, obsessive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, and depression. Dina works in person and virtually with adolescents and adults individually as well as in family and couples settings. Dina strives to create a warm therapeutic environment that promotes support, insight, and change. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and a solution-focused approach, Dina aims to empower her clients to address the difficulties they are facing in order to build healthier and more meaningful experiences.

Dina holds a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Baruch College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Forensic Psychology and Addiction Studies from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Ahava's Meaning

Dina's middle name is Ahava which means “love” in Hebrew. Dina has always had a strong connection to her middle name as it holds so much meaning. The Hebrew root word of “Ahava” is “hav” which means “give.” We cannot have love without giving. We cannot love ourselves without giving to and taking care of ourselves. Similarly, we cannot love others without giving and putting energy toward them. Through our work together at Ahava, we hope to equip you with Ahava for yourself and for your loved ones.
